I am another person of TN1 to GC.
TN1 can change job. Only thing you have to travel to nearest boarder with Two page TN1 petition, job offer letter, canadian citizen certificate, and educational credentials (you can also file to NSC but it will take few months to get approve).
TN1 has to be renew every years and it can be renew for indefinate time (not like 6 years for H1B).
As far as I know one who holds TN visa cannot apply for Green Card. :)

Doing it in the lat quarter could cuase visa wastage especially this year where it is anticiapted that there will be lot of spill over numbers.
Now, with vast majority (if not almost all) of 07 petitions pre-adjudicated and waiting for visa #s for approvals, it is hard for uscis to wait up-to-end-of-the-year for spill over. Current economy only suggest fewer GC applicants in 09 and 2010

OMG. This useless news prompted for more than 10 pages. This clearly shows how Indians are victimized for cinema. This is a clear example to show popularity in cine field and money can do any thing in India. Millions of people suddenly back SRK. No one has bothered for APJ when he was frisked at Indian Soil. Now, millions of peoples, media, and government are backing this SRK, just for 2 hours interrogation that he faced in the airport. No one has bothered about thousands of innocent muslims they undergo similar checks at US airport, everyday. "There are people who flew to the United States so they could apply and had their families fly back. They paid attorney fees," Williams said.

The announcement meant that as early as Monday, Citizenship and Immigration Services would begin accepting applications. The applications are hefty, requiring medical exams, a lot of documentation and the applicant's presence in the United States.
But an update on the State Department Web site posted Monday said 60,000 such numbers were no longer available because of "the sudden backlog reduction efforts by Citizenship and Immigration Services offices during the past month."
The department called the backlog reduction an "unexpected action" and said employment visa numbers would be available again Oct. 1.
The State Department has been flooded with passport applications since new rules went into effect in January requiring passports for air travelers returning from the same destinations. The resulting backlog has caused delays of up to three months for passports and ruined or delayed the travel plans of thousands of people.
A spokesman at the State Department declined to comment.
Williams said several workers within Citizenship and Immigration Services told her and other lawyers that the agency had staffers working through the weekend to resolve pending cases. She said several lawyers reported getting phone calls from the agency with questions about applications when normally that happens by mail.

Wake up, buddy. This is IV. Not !
Removal of Country caps was, is and will be one of the top agendas of IV , whether beneficiaries of a discriminatory system like you support it or not. It's morally and ethically repugnant to see discrimination based on country of birth in the 21st century. Just because it benefits some like you, it doesn't become right.
Employability has nothing to do with Country of Birth. When we are selected based on merit, skill and education by our employer, why should we suffer just because we are born in the wrong country?
It's time to throw away this last vestige of discrimination inherited from the previous centuries and move to a future where every individual is valued for what he/she is individually and not based on whether he was born in India or Sri Lanka.
Only India and China & one or two more countries will support the removal of country limit. The rest of the world will actually oppopse this move as it will have a negative impact on their processing times greatly.

Most of the Bollywood movies are junk ( vulgar dances etc.) . As more and more people mature in the north, the market for stars like SRK will dwindle. I request everybody to follow classic Bengali/Mallu movies.
Does it matter? People love those movies.
Though we do see quality movies these days. the reason for junk is because the sheer number. They are high and thats why quality movies seem to look like they are few. Bollywood banks a lot on presentation of the movie and thats whjy they need to follow the "formula" which may look funny and absurd.
A lot of American movies are also crap, only few are worth watching.
Just like how everyone wants to code in Java, a lot of people want to get into the film industry and not everyone or everything is like what you want them to be.
What I say is "Lets stop junking things" Lets look at ourselves and see what we have achieved what the starts have not achieved

I would still puruse removing quotas unconditionally. Not everyone will want to buy a house here. We can always propose buying houses will help fix housing crisis, but that shouldnt be a must.
Instead, I would suggest pay $5K or $10K to expedite it. I am sure many people want to take this. If we are talking about 500,000 people, then with a $5K premium processing, it will generate $2,500,000,000. Is that 2.5 billion.. Not bad. This step wioll not hurt many.

I didn't generalize. I said preponderence meaning "a lot of" cases with L1/B1/H1 and I am also not denying the fact the India is doing a great job in producing IT skills in great numbers. I am saying how they end up in America in greater numbers than any other country. China, Pakistan, Israel also produces lots of IT gradutes but they don't have the bodyshop connection to land here with an NIIT certificate.
Then pray why people from other countries are not landing IT jobs?. Can I say that NIIT teaching is better than the teachings in the universities of the countries you have mentioned?.

Nope that's not correct. You file your business earnings through 1099 and not W2. It has nothing to do with H1-B. Good luck.

On H-1B status, one can not run business. PERIOD. Check with US CIS for yourself.
One more thing, Passive Investment is not same as Running a Business. Passive Investment is allowed on H-1/H-4 and other non-immigrant visa status.

Not just limited to Cognizant and some Big 3s(or 2s now).
Please do not dismiss this as a tunnel vision, its a reality that will develop into a panoramic scam. I know of a guy in India who is sowing seeds of multi-national manager with a Staffing firm(Desi consulting Co) just for this purpose. Worst he has an individual contributor job with some other company that is in collusion with the staffing firm here to prove he works for the company here( I am guessing as a consultant and taxation with a ghost company of US based company in India). I could not get him to spill the beans on how this whole thing is working but he is confident and has sunk a lot of money into it. Strangely, he was disappointed when I told him even with L1A/EB1 it could take 18 to 24 months. Talk about feeling entitled.
Mind you lot of these guys have registered companies in India already to fish for H1 applicants. We close our eyes on this one, it will break the levees and flood the EB immigration. SO never be coy in dismissing this travesty and mother of all scams that is going to follow.

I think conventional war was ended. But the mistrust is still there. New organization and another set of gurilla warfare will be start very soon. Many LTTE still in Sri Lanka. They may regroup after some time. The refuge camp will be breading ground. If need peace, settle these refugees to good housing, education and jobs. It looks like my post which was meant to bring some awareness to the innocent civilians being killed in SL has lost its purpose. Here are some clarification which will respond to atleast some posts:
1) There is no support for LTTE, not by Indian govt, not by USA, UN or any other country and neither by me
2) Post is not to gather support for LTTE, post is to gather support for INNOCENT CIVILIANS being killed. Now both sides killed civilians, recent report by UN (third party which is neutral - if neutral or UN still carries any value) shows SL army bombing the civilian safe-zone which is an outrage.
3) SL tamils are not Indian citizens. If we get US citizenship do you think anyone in USA will treat you as american, you are Indian American. My reference to Indians in SL is the same, thought you guys are smart enough to understand that.
4) Our Indian government with all its might..should not keep quiet and let the ethnic cleansing happen..kill all the LTTE no one cares..but killing all tamilians or most of them to keep others quiet is outageous. Bringing out this atrocity is the point of my post.
And guys..I am not a tamilian..I am an Indian..if this happens to any other group in India I will stand up and shout with the same ferocity with which I posted this. And guys..I am not a tamilian..I am an Indian..if this happens to any other group in India I will stand up and shout with the same ferocity with which I posted this. Standing up for good cause and protecting human values anywhere in the world need not require us belonging to a particular community. Being human is enough!
