1] To date there are 60K EB2I and another 60K EB3I I-485 applictaions pending.
2] 3.2K visas were available for EB2I for FY2009.
Assuming 3.2K visas are available every year from now on, it will take 60/3.2=18.75 years for all EB2I applicants upto today to be granted GC.

probably true but because most of them are on H4 which means someone else in their family is H1.

So what kind of visionary are you looking for.If we make the current govt's performance as a basis then is it someone like this:

Buzz is also that if UPA wins Manmhona singh will be made PM and after some time will be replaced with Rahul Gandhi.So it's all hog wash.
I am not sure what vision Mr.Advani has for India. May be at this age he might have better vision than other people in the same league.

As for "formerly superior Tamil competitiveness", I am sure what you refer to is, the fact that during the British period, the Tamils were given the lion's share (pardon my pun) of all the civil service and other administrative jobs as part of their divide and Rule policy. When SL gained independence of course, things changed so that formerly discriminated Sinhalese started getting their fair share of thse opportunities. Mind you that Sinhalese are after all 75% of SL. Are you saying it is fair to ask 12% of the population (SL Tamils) to have 50% of all the opportuniies and land and the resources reserved for them???

Does anybody know how many EB2-I and EB2-ROW PERMs were processed for 2006, 2007 and 2008? Once we know these numbers it will be easy to predict EB2-I movement as all of the spillover numbers will be used primarily by EB2 India.

I had green dots till yesterday, but after posting fun stuff on this thread people gave me red dots..... why is that? This tread has zero value, it is like Santa singh jokes.

I was heart broken too when I got my first red. And I got it just because I agreed with someone that it is not a good idea to staple new passport and old passport together and suggested to use a rubber band to hold the two passports together. Stay Away unless you are willing to lose a lot to gain a few!!

I am another person of TN1 to GC.
TN1 can change job. Only thing you have to travel to nearest boarder with Two page TN1 petition, job offer letter, canadian citizen certificate, and educational credentials (you can also file to NSC but it will take few months to get approve).
TN1 has to be renew every years and it can be renew for indefinate time (not like 6 years for H1B).
As far as I know one who holds TN visa cannot apply for Green Card. :)

I think we can make some very credible and good arguments for ourselves.
a) The changing demographics require an increased level of immigration. It is upto this country to decide if it wants semi-skilled immigrants (Indian cooks and gardeners) and their siblings/parents, or high-skilled immigrants.
b) It is not really the smartest thing in the world to bring people here from foreign lands, let them work here in high-tech fields, and then send them back after 6-10 years so that they can compete against Americans from OUTSIDE America.
c) A lot of EB-based immigrants have been to American colleges and have graduate degrees. Again, see (b) above. Not the brightest idea to have this American-educated and trained high-skilled manpower forced to go back to India and China, the two main US competitors.
Atleast, not if you are America.
Bottomline is this. If there have been abuses of the system, and any system will be abused, then those need to be fixed. If there are loopholes, they need to be plugged (and people will come up with more loopholes.) But the USCIS should not throw the baby out with the bath water. Stop the bashing of countries with stupid generalizations like cost of living and bad doctors. This is ridiculous. See my other posts dispelling Canadian misconceptions. That your friends or whoever has had badluck in Canada is probably as much due to their lack of perperation and research before going there coupled with their socialist sense of entitlement.
And for all you considering going to Canada, it's not rocket science. Look for a job BEFORE you go. Heck, take a vacation and go there if you get some interviews. I don't care if your doctor friend is driving a taxi cab - they should have known that there is a foreign credential issue going on in that country before they pack up their family and go there (and hopefully this will be ironed out - it is a problem and a big debate right now).
But it's not like there isn't a way to work around it (suck it up and do what you have to do for recertification - yes it's troublesome, but at least your fate is in your own hands, and you're not stuck in retrogression at the mercy of others). And if you think you have more opportunities in the US, why is it that the majority of H1Bs are being sucked up by desi body shops who just turn around and indenture you? Is that considered a wonderful opportunity ( i guess it is)? How many of you can actually work for a non-desi company? Imagine if they didn't exist. Too bad Canada doesn't have the same body shops, eh. Oh the irony.

If nobody got "converted" after being approached by a total stranger in a public place, why does BWW/Quixstar/Amway continue to do it.
Perhaps we should ask Q/Teddy to collect this data, analyze it and prove to them the futility of it all. Maybe then they will stop and everybody can shop/work/study in peace. :D

He presents himself indian because that sells. Dont loose sleep over this issue. He is trying to publicize his upcoming movie. Do you think he is going to stop that?

We are all expecting that the VB will go back to June 2007 figure...it looks like that RoW has been so fast in getting the latest PD back which could come in a very few months time.

Hey...No one can predict anything about Aug and Sept. You just have to wait till you get your LC and then check where dates are and file accordingly. There is nothing you can do about it, so relax and don't worry too much.
If it makes you feel better, then people from 2001/2002/2003 are still still in line. You are lucky at least you have hope that you can file 485 if you get your LC in time.
