Most of the Bollywood movies are junk ( vulgar dances etc.) . As more and more people mature in the north, the market for stars like SRK will dwindle. I request everybody to follow classic Bengali/Mallu movies.
Does it matter? People love those movies.
Though we do see quality movies these days. the reason for junk is because the sheer number. They are high and thats why quality movies seem to look like they are few. Bollywood banks a lot on presentation of the movie and thats whjy they need to follow the "formula" which may look funny and absurd.
A lot of American movies are also crap, only few are worth watching.
Just like how everyone wants to code in Java, a lot of people want to get into the film industry and not everyone or everything is like what you want them to be.
What I say is "Lets stop junking things" Lets look at ourselves and see what we have achieved what the starts have not achieved

I understand that per country cap is painful for certain countries. But i think they want the employment based immigrant community to be as versatile as possible. I have never heard someone complaining about the DV program where certain countries are not allowed to participate. The reason behind is that they want people from all over the world not just from certain parts of the world.
What part of "Diversity Visa" don't you understand ? The objective there was and is "DIVERSITY" and therefore it make sense (albeit a limited one).
Why should there be a restriction based on COB for employment based visas ? Do you think the Govt can dictate companies to recruit only so many people from different demographies ? I guess not.
Thank God there is no such restriction on H1.

As many have suggested before, this removal of quota in it self will not solve the immigration problem. But is is fair and equitable in my opinion. And the opinion generally is different based on what side of the fence you are on. Recapture and increase of the annual limit to a more reasonable number is the correct solution.
Although it may be kind of wishful thinking from the ICMP quartet to get this per country limitation removed, I personally feel the odds of that happening or very low. So guys from ROW, please chill. You are probably alright. Removing the world hunger is the right thing , but that is not going to happen. Some people continue to eat mud cakes to kill the hunger (This is a true story. I read an article recently).
Most problems in the past have been resolved by not improving/patching the current system/source but by paradigm and systematic shifts. The root of the problem at the conceptual level is the demand for these visas from these countries. If the India and China continue their current growth rate for the next decade, they probably don't need this many visas :) who knows :).
But for now this is a problem for all of us who are struck in this nightmare.

eb3_nepa, some people have the special ability to create business opportunities when others see none. E.g. Do you think a job at a primary school can be sold? Think again. You have to buy it in India. Another example... have you been to the Empire state building? For $12 you can wait in line for ~4 hours and enjoy the view after that. But for $40 you can go straight to the top. With labor sub its the same deal. Your company has an approved labor, there are 5 suckers who would otherwise wait 10 years in the GC line. They all do a great job of Java programming that you need your prospective employee to do. How do you decide which one to hire?
For some companies its easy.. they select the one who pays them a premium.
To your other question... no you cannot transfer approved labor to other company... so if you want to be in this business of labor subs, you have to go through the pains of labor before being able to sell one...

Point is, they have some rules and security setup(You can argue whether it is flawless or not!) and it applies equally to all. No matter who he is.

In India Cops will not dare touch a celebritiy or a politican or Son of a big guy.
Here if they pull over somebody and it comes out be a celebrity, he/she would still get a ticket. While in India, Cop will salute him/her, probably take an autograph for his kids, appologize to the celebrity for the inconvenience and let him/her go. That is the difference.

This is my Question for traveling with advance parole.
1. came to usa 1999 as b1 visa with my wife.
2. change f1 student (my wife ) me f2 student depend after 4 months.
3. apply for I-485 employment i am principle applicant july 2nd 2007 riceive date and notice date is august 24th 2007 .
4. my wife apply i-824 july 2nd 2007 and she left usa july 14th 2007.
5. i got Ead and advance parole august 30th 2007.
6. i have not started work yet.
7. i had apply for f1 student visa (change of status f2 to f1) july 15th 2007 but denied.
so my question is my I-94 is f2 until d/s is no longer valied or not?
because my wife left uSA after filling my I 485 , is there is any problem travelling with advance parole?
my student change of status is denied so there is any problem to traval with advance parole?

Here is my situation, any help to resolve this is appreciated.

Totally Agree with your assumptions, there are few more that can be added like
Some 3-5% people with PD 2005 - 2006 are already approved (as low hanging fruits) during 2008 Aug-Oct period.
Also recent span of RFE's by USCIS (for preadjudication) resulted in flushing out of some applications
In short pending EB2 numbers that you are taking into account will be 10 to 20% less and available visa numbers from spill overs will be 20 to 30% more than what you projects. So forward movement will surely be there.
However there is a doubt related to spill overs every quarter !!
Allocations are surely made on quarter to quarter basis but there is no certain precedence in the past for spill overs, well i would say the past has been shady
I recall once VB where EB2 I was giving numbers from EB1 and this was before the last quarter (happened in FY 2008). We have to wait till Dec, 2009 Bulletin.

My Priority date is Jan 2004, EB3-India category having approved I-140 and applied 485. I have sent my EAD and aP for renewal which expire in last week of September. My spouse is in EB2-India having pd Dec 2005, also applied I-485 (140 is approved) and has applied for EAD and aP renewal which expire in last week fo October. We both applied independently and are using our H1bs and not EAds.
Since my spouse's PD is going to be current in August'2008, I was planning on applying for a second 485 as a dependent on my spouse's application. Questions i have are -
1) I did my medical for previous 485 in June of last year, is that still valid?
2) Can I still keep my previous 485 application or should I cancel it.
3) What should i do about my AP and EAD? I have travelling job and am thinking of looking for a local job around end of the year or begining of next year. So would like to know what I should do about EAD and AP
Lastly is there something i am not thinking of?
Will greatly appreciate your response.

Based on this, I have again (yes, again) emailed by immigration lawyer and sent him the AILA's URL (although I cant see it coz I am not member of AILA).
IF AILA reports that they stopped accepting new 485 petitions for EB3-other, then it is pretty freaking scary and that means that what my lawyer told me "I cant happen, bla bla bla..." is really not 100% accurate. If it happened in June, it can happen in July. This is now REALLLLY SCARY, coz my lawyer has plans for July-end for filing.
Ever since the dates got current, it has been more stressful than the time when dates were retrogressed and almost makes me miss the retrogression days when I didnt have to depend on the lawyers for my career.
It is indeed scary...I guess rumors can come to haunt us...I know that mine is not going in before mid july...we are seeing that is visible but doesnt exist...May be august bulletin (like predicted by USCIS) will still be "C"....GOOD LUCK to all. Irony of life is...all my life i gave exams in an effort to not get a "C"....and now all i pray for is just another "C"...

WDude, Googler, I am not against removing per country limits. But we need to have a cool head, think straight, objective and use facts. I just think it will be next to impossible to change the INA to remove those quotas so it's better to concentrate efforts on 1) visa recapture; 2) EB quota increase. Visas were lost mostly because of NC issue.
