Even after seeing Aug �08 bulletin are you still saying that it is just a speculation? If that makes you happy - be happy, but unfortunately horizontal spill-over is the fact now. Let us wait and see whether it is a permanent approach or not.

Ok - so what is it going to cost us to get a consult with Rajiv Khanna? Anyone know this? Until we have more details on this, I commit $25 for this first consultation. (I will gladly raise the commitment once I know how much this will cost and if IV Core Members support this initiative).

I keep thinking about going back and your inputs are valuable in this regard...
But in my case I could think of a few more factors...
1. Back home the economy is sizzling...(Don't know how long that would last)..
2. My friends who chose to stay in India/left for India in 2/3 years have a greater net worth than I have...(through stock market/real estate appreciation..) again do not know how long/whether this would last..
3. I am really at my wit's end as far as work is concerned...The stagnation is killing me...I am in this place for last 7 years....

Very well said & I just feel the same...I have already lost hope on this GC and can not predict how long its going to take but for sure before I leave this place and go back to home country I will contribute my best of share in this fight for justice and full support...count me in with out any doubt!!
If at all anything would work for recapturing of visas, its going to be lawsuit. There are already 155 ppl supporting lawsuit and saw ppl in are also thinking of lawsuit. I am sure there will be many more to support lawsuit. Nope. UK and Pakistan would then join the club of India & China. ROW is an artificial construct. The reason USCIS posts priority dates for India, China, Mexico and Philippines separately is that applicants from these countries are typically, and especially over subscribed. ROW countries are just countries which are not typically over subscribed in the EB category.

Dude, I am not supporting anyone here. Neither Train tragedy not the killing of 2000 innocents. No civilized person would ever support any kind of innocent killing. You missed my point here. I am born and brought up in Hyderabad old city and had seen numerous community riots for nothing. Always its the " INNOCENTS " who gets suffered. These things gets created for nothing. I supported Modi for the development he had brought to Gujarat. Look at the development in Gujarat before and after Modi.
A person who assists in the murder of people whom he has taken an oath to protect, cannot be really thinking about the country or for its development. By saying that HE is responsible for the development is clearly under estimating the capabilities of the gujrati people. The gujratis and rajasthanis are leaders in creating wealth and they did that for thousands of years successfully with world's envy before this ugly Indian came into picture. First: several members (incl self) have checked with their own lawyers and these lawyers tend to agree with the common interpretation of validity for entire month. And at least some of these are lawyers with many years of practice.
Second: Fragomen, the largest immigration law firm, on its website mentions the mid-month possibility; so while there is no government source, the whole topic cannot be dismissed as an unfounded rumor.
Third: Macaca keeps cutting and pasting from the ombudsman's report in many different colors.
My interpretation:
The mid-month concept seems to be a matter of opinion. Multicolor posts notwithstanding, there's nothing official on this matter so far. (I emailed the state department seeking an answer; not surprisingly, I haven't heard back. If anyone else can get something from the horse's mouth, then post it here. If you can get stuff only from the other end of the horse, then maybe there's isn't much pointing in driving a general panic.)

you are right in Aug 2008 so many people wth PD of 2005 & 2006 got approved. I would have been a lucky one but unfortunately my Birth Certificate turned out to be the culprit and ended with with an RFE. By the time I answered the RFE visa # were exhausted and I was left behind.

Even though enactment of the visa recapture and nursing relief bills within the 110th Congress was slim, the foreign professionals watched the webcast of the hearing yesterday with a tremendous despair, adjourning the hearing without taking up these immigration bills. Guess what the last word of the Chairman was: Photo session of the Committee members on the 24th! It is gone, gone, and gone. No more glimmer of hope within this 110th Congress.

For the the ones who are skeptical, there are two simple things to consider.
1. Other than 5882 (which is the most preferred) is there anything else out there to help improve the Green card process? ANYTHING? we all would love to hear it.
2. Even if this idea will not work for you (already bought a house/can't buy one right now), if this does go through and reduces the backlog, is it not what you want ultimately?
As usual you are welcome to your opinion but considering the two points above please refrain from negative opinions because that usually dissuades some IV members to come out and support action items.
