    DEAR MEMBERS - I JUST SPOKE TO SERTASHEEP AND THE FOLLOWING WAS DISCUSSED.

    We are still working on the proper approach and text that must be used to address this issue - folks like Macaca and gang are doing a great job.

    That said - please be careful in the language you use. Let us not bad mouth the agencies and keep cheast beating - remember such a thing will work against us. We are benefeciaries and we must only focus on our issues and also convey the message in a positive way.

    In external discussion forums - do not get offensive with anyone who tries to oppose us. These things work against us.

    REMEMBER, WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE IS NOT REALITY BUT PERCEPTION. WE CAN SHOW ALL DATA AND RECORDS THAT WE ARE RIGHT AND THEY ARE WRONG, BUT THEY ARE DRIVEN ONLY BY PERCEPTION.

    If any of you plan to post any external messages or discuss externally or communicate with law makers, media or other websites or even your friends are planning to do it - please run it through Macaca and other forum gurus.

    Have a great holiday - today.

    I did not see any plan yet. Basically he is wasting time with opinions from behind.
    Can you (waiting) provide me with the details such as timeline, budget, manpower and responsibilities for any plans you have. No i am sure you will ask some one senior for it and you know what none of the junior members would know anything about that

    Why the hell should i now layout any plan with detail of timeline, budget, manpower and responsibilities just because you decide to ask for it. Who are you to ask. What the hell ddi you contribute to this post except for abuses

    Has there any discussion on the topic from you you @#$#@$@#$X#%^^@#!$#$
    Have you come up and even stated about what you like or do not like about this plan. Have you ever been polite to any one on this forum

    Ok you know what if i agree to the point that all this is junk will you keep off this post?

    Depends on your income and number of kids. Check http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/benefits/cctb/faq_payments-e.html for more info. Some details below.

    CCTB: Calculation and payment information
    When are Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) payments made?
    I did not receive my CCTB payment this month. What should I do?
    How do I tell the CRA about my change of address?
    Can I start getting my CCTB payments by direct deposit?
    How do I change my banking information if I receive my payments by direct deposit?
    What happens to CCTB payments if the recipient dies?
    When do we recalculate your CCTB?
    What happens if you owe money for CCTB?
    How are the Canada Child Tax Benefit and the National Child Benefit Supplement calculated?
    What determines the maximum payment for the National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS)?
    Do the Child Care Expenses that I claim on my 2005 income tax return affect my CCTB?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. When are Canada Child Tax Benefit payments made?
    Benefits are paid over a 12-month period from July of one year to June of the next year. Generally, payments are made on the 20th of each month or, if your annual entitlement is less than $120, we will send it all in one payment on July 20th.

    CCTB and integrated payment* dates

    July 20th, 2006
    August 18th, 2006
    September 20th, 2006
    October 20th, 2006
    November 20th, 2006
    December 13th, 2006
    January 19th, 2007
    February 20th, 2007
    March 20th, 2007
    April 20th, 2007
    May 18th, 2007
    June 20th, 2007

    * Note: Integrated payments include the BC Family Bonus, the New Brunswick Child Tax Benefit, the Newfoundland and Labrador Child Benefit, the Northwest Territories Child Benefit, the Nova Scotia Child Benefit, the Nunavut Child Benefit, the Saskatchewan Child Benefit, and the Yukon Child Benefit.

    The Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit is issued twice a year, in July and January. The payments will be issued on July 27, 2005, and January 27, 2006, for the 2004 base year.

    For more information regarding our benefit programs, please visit the Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) page.

    2. I did not receive my Canada Child Tax Benefit payment this month. What should I do?
    We generally pay your benefit on the 20th of each month. If your payment does not arrive on that day, please wait five working days before calling us at 1-800-387-1193.

    3. How do I tell the CRA about my change of address?
    See How to change your address.

    Top of page4. Can I start getting my Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) payments by direct deposit?
    You can have your CCTB payments deposited directly into your account at a financial institution. To start direct deposit, complete the "Direct deposit" section on Form RC66, Canada Child Tax Benefit Application, or send us a completed Form T1-DD(1), Direct Deposit Request - Individuals. If you get your payments by direct deposit and your banking information changes, send us a completed Form T1-DD(1), Direct Deposit Request - Individuals. You cannot change your banking information by calling us unless you have other CRA products deposited into that same account.

    If for any reason we cannot deposit a payment into your account, we will mail a cheque to you at the address we have on file.

    5. How do I change my banking information if I receive my payments by direct deposit?
    If you get your payments by direct deposit and your banking information changes, send us a completed Form T1-DD(1), Direct Deposit Request - Individuals. You cannot change your banking information by calling us unless you have other CRA products deposited into that same account.

    6. What happens to Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) payments if the recipient dies?
    If an individual dies who was receiving CCTB payments for a child, the child's new caregiver should contact us and give us the date of the recipient's death.

    We may still send out a payment after the date of death because we are not aware of the death. If this happens, please return the payment to us with a brief letter of explanation. See our listing of CRA offices for the one nearest you.

    If you are the surviving spouse or common-law partner of the deceased individual and you lived with that person at the time of his or her death, in most cases you won't have to complete a new CCTB application. If certain requirements have been met, the children will be automatically transferred to your account.

    If you are any other caregiver (such as grandparent or guardian), you will have to complete Form RC66, Canada Child Tax Benefit Application, and send it to us.

    Note
    If you are the new caregiver and the deceased individual was receiving payments under provincial or territorial child benefit programs that we administer, you do not have to apply separately to qualify for these payments. We will use the information from Form RC66 to determine if you are eligible for these programs.

    Top of page7. When do we recalculate your CCTB?
    We will recalculate your benefit and send you a Canada Child Tax Benefit Notice showing our revised calculation:

    every July based on the returns that you and your spouse or common-law partner filed for the previous year;
    after each reassessment of either your or your spouse or common-law partner's return that affects the calculation of your benefit;
    after a child for whom you receive the CCTB turns 18 (the last payment you will receive will be for the month of his or her birthday); and
    after you tell us about changes to your situation that could affect your benefit (see When to contact us about your CCTB).
    8. What happens if you owe money for CCTB?
    If a recalculation shows that you were overpaid CCTB, we will send you a notice to advise you of the balance owing. We may keep all or a portion of future CCTB payments, income tax refunds, or goods and services/harmonized tax credit (GST/HST) credits until the balance is repaid.

    9. How are the Canada Child Tax Benefit and the National Child Benefit Supplement calculated?
    You can use our new online service to get an estimate of your benefits.

    Your CCTB payments for the 12 - month period of July 2006 to June 2007 are calculated using the following information:

    The number of children you have;
    Your province or territory of residence;
    Your 2005 family net income;
    Your or your spouse or common-law partner's claim for child care expenses for 2005; and
    Your child's eligibility for the Child Disability Benefit.
    Basic benefit:

    The basic benefit is $1,255 ($104.58 a month) for each child under age 18 (the basic benefit is different for residents of Alberta, see the note below).
    There is a supplement of $88 ($7.33 a month) for your third and each additional child.
    There is a supplement of $249 ($20.75 a month) for each child who is six years of age. This supplement is reduced by 25% of any amount you or your spouse or common-law partner claimed for child care expenses on your income tax return. Eligible families with children under six years of age will receive the new Universal Child Care Benefit.
    We subtract a benefit reduction from this amount if your family net income is more than $36,378. For a one-child family, the reduction is 2% of the amount of your family net income that is more than $36,378. For families with two or more children, the reduction is 4%.
    Note
    The Alberta provincial government has chosen to vary the amount of the basic benefit that its residents receive. The basic benefit is:

    $1,147 ($95.58 a month) for children under 7;
    $1,225 ($102.08 a month) for children 7 to 11;
    $1,373 ($114.41 a month) for children 12 to 15; and
    $1,452 ($121.00 a month) for children 16 or 17.
    National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS):

    One-child family: $1,945 a year ($162.08 a month). This amount is reduced by 12.2% of the amount of family net income that is more than $20,435.
    Two-child family: $1,720 a year ($143.33 a month). This amount is reduced by 22.9% of the amount of family net income that is more than $20,435.
    Three-or-more-child family: $1,637 a year ($136.41 a month). The total will be reduced by 33.2% of the amount of family net income that is more than $20,435.
    Note
    If you are on social assistance, the NCBS may affect the amount of your social assistance payments. Many provinces and territories will consider the NCBS you get as income and will adjust your basic social assistance by this amount.

    Thanks for the response. Govt sends a check for each child every month ! Thats too good to be true. How much is the check for.

    I guess many have mentioned this before.

    Diversity should not be based on "country" as well. For example I can easily say that "India" has to be considered as "20 different countries", if it divided based on diversity. And probably many of the europian countries combined should be "1 country".

    Means if the diversity quota is 100 per year, to call for proper diversity.....
    2000 for India...
    100 for many of the european countries combined....

    (Note: I didn't mean "ALL of europe", I know that whole Europe is pretty diverse as well...)

    Country based "diversity" doesn't make sense at all.

    And then there this piece of info from Ron Gotcher posted on Feb 14, 2008
    http://immigration-information.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4285
    "Last night, at a meeting of the American Immigration Lawyer's Assocation Southern California chapter, Charles Oppenheim spoke. Mr. Oppenheim is the officer within the Visa Office tasked with calculating visa bulletin cutoff dates each month. He offered the following thoughts as to cutoff date movement in the upcoming months:

    In April, India and China EB2 will be set at 12/01/2003
    EB3 for India and China will slow down for the rest of the fiscal year."

    I am riveted by this because I spoke to Oppenheim just the day before this meeting (he referred to it). This was the conversation in which he told me that at present EB-2 India would only get numbers leftover from EB-1 India -- the problem is he doesn't know either exactly how many EB-2 India adjudicated applications there are in any specific PD range -- so every month he makes wild guesses, with the intent of using up visas. So I guess at least as of 2/14/08 he thought moving the date to 12/1/03 would more than mop up whatever was leftover from EB-1 India. Given the end of the FBI boondoggle (the effects of which have not been quantified by Oppenheim or USCIS) I'd predict that even a date in early 2002 would be good enough to mop up. Let us see if he changes his mind by mid March.

    See update on this discussion on this thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17450).

    Seems to be a fair idea even though I don't qualify. I did a dumbest thing of buying house in 2006 even before apply for the Green card ( though I submitted all required documents in 2004, my corporate company filed only in 2006 waiting for PERM process to stabilize).

    I'm still hanging on my house though it lost 27% value with no GC or not even approved 140 ...

    You should know that processing day means NOTHING! If you are after that, it doesn't mean your case will not be processed. If you are before that, it doesn't mean your case has been processed.
    So surprised there are still lots of people keeping an eye on processing day. That's totally useless piece of information.

    There are 71 people who have voted for a class action lawsuit.

    Has anyone of them contacted Rajiv Khnanna and spent their own $600 and got an anwer? NO.

    This is because nobody is serious about this. Everyone wants the other person to spend their money and time. They will only spend their time in writing posts.

    I oppose this idea for number of reasons. Firstly people will not become plantiffs. They are scared. USCIS will scruitanize their applications more than anyone. Secondly people will not donate money in thousands of dollars each for it. Unless you can get hundred thousand dollars and above, you cannot go into a class action lawsuit. Thirdly nobody will go and travel on their own money and testify. Forthly, nobody will spend time helping lawyers prepare cases and research. Forthly, class action lawsuits take time and people will disappear after a while. Fifthly nobody will be willing to lead this effort. They will just dump it on IV to lead it and have core spend their time and money into it for them. Sixthly if this fail, they will blame IV for wasting the money and failing in the effort. Seventhly we do not want greencards that bad. If we wanted greencards that bad we all would have written more than 20 thousand letters till now. We should only try to bite as much as we can chew. This is just an overambitious plan and looks good in a post.

    Thus I oppose this idea.

    internet,
    You cannot speak on behalf of other persons. Speak for yourself. Even though I have a GC, I am willing to contribute (monetary, reviewing lawyers briefs, doing legal research). I will not be able to participate as plaintiff as I have a GC.

    Wake up, buddy. This is IV. Not !

    Removal of Country caps was, is and will be one of the top agendas of IV , whether beneficiaries of a discriminatory system like you support it or not. It's morally and ethically repugnant to see discrimination based on country of birth in the 21st century. Just because it benefits some like you, it doesn't become right.

    Employability has nothing to do with Country of Birth. When we are selected based on merit, skill and education by our employer, why should we suffer just because we are born in the wrong country?

    It's time to throw away this last vestige of discrimination inherited from the previous centuries and move to a future where every individual is valued for what he/she is individually and not based on whether he was born in India or Sri Lanka.

    Dude,

    Read my post again.

    I am not saying it is a bad thing (not for us desis). All I am saying is *every* country in ROW will oppose removing country cap and they have explicitly said so on . They would have said as much here too, if we had more diversity on this forum.

    It is not about right or wrong, ti is just the way it is. The UK guy can come in to the US today for employment and can have a GC in a year or two. Why on earth will he support a change that will push him into a 10 year queue?

    The point is, we should know where we stand when we are taking up removal of country cap. Unlike the other changes whic hare benefical to all GC aspirants, this is one change that will be opposed by several GC aspirants.

    Hello All,

    I travelled by car to Quebec-Canada and came back to US thru vermont on AP since my H4 visa stamping has expired. I was given an I-94A which has no expiry date and also is says single use. They didn't take my old I-94 and issued me a new one with no expiry date. Can any one please tell me if they had the same expirenece or should i contact the Immigrations and ask them to issues a new I-94?

    I read through a couple of forums and know that all were issued an I-94 with 1 year expiry date. What is the significance of that Date? I am asking this because we cannot travel on the same AP since the AP will expire in 1 year from the date of issue and hece we cannot use the AP even though the I-94 has 1 year validity.

    Hope some one can throw some light on this.I

    such people cut in line in front of us and don't even bother paying money to IV. Why should we give them free advice. If they can spend money buying labor for 20K they can spend hundred dollars and consult a lawyer and ask their question. It is with such mentaility they are brought up with in their country- Currption and getting things done with money. But never paying anyone for a just cause. In my country people contribute only when they fear god in temples, for medical treatment or to astrologers!!

    At least on this forum we can have the resolve to fight such people who are hurting most of us.

    Good that DOL/USCIS is getting rid of labor selling by voiding after 45 days
    ( in the final rule that might be raised a bit ...to 90days ...which is justified and reasonable)
