    Did it for 4 years and quit in 2007... lost 20K and 95% of my friends...

    Quixtar is not bad but the people running sub-businesses (such as BWW etc) by pushing tapes and books on you make it HELL

    got into it, pulled off 3 weeks later. they refunded my investment w/o any issue. but yes never lost that persons contact who got friendly with me for this and we remain good family friends. so there are exceptions.

    I sent the email to my local congress man who has an anti-immigrant stance.

    Here is the response I got from him( It is probably a standard response for financial crisis)

    Thank you for contacting me regarding our country's financial crisis and the administration's bailout proposal. It is good to hear your thoughts on this very important situation facing our country and I share in your concerns.

    As you know, Treasury Secretary Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke testified recently before Congress about their proposal to spend $700 billion to purchase the debt of financial institutions, improve our credit situation, and stabilize our economy. I reviewed the proposal carefully and, like you, I had serious concerns about this proposal such as the blanket authority removing Congressional or legal oversight, the implied reward for unwise financial behaviors at the expense of honest Americans, and the long-term expense to tax payers without a mechanism to press criminal charges upon those who are responsible for this situation.

    As a consequence, I offered an alternative measure. According to the Department of Treasury, there are two problems that need to be addressed: the short term liquidity emergency, and the long-term toxic mortgage asset holdings. To address the liquidity emergency, my plan would reduce all personal and corporate capital gains taxes to zero percent for one year, reduce the Federal Funds Rate (FFR) to zero percent for one month with a reoccurring month to month option, and allow the Department of Treasury to loan current funds to lending institutions at the rate of inflation plus three percent or LIBOR plus three percent. This plan would get the markets moving and allow Congress adequate time to address the mortgage assets situation while we investigate those corporations or government regulators who may be criminally negligent.


    One of my most important roles as your Congressman is to be a responsible steward of tax payer funds and, while my proposal remains an option, there are many proposals still being debated and it is unclear what the final product will look like. I will be sure to keep you informed of what happens as we move forward.

    If not, then it won't. And things will be similar to the way things have been for such a long time.

    Why should it be a surprise?
    How do PoE officers know if he is a film star in some foreign language movies?

    Fact - My 485 has not ben filied yet, still on mercey of Employer after giving them all the paperwork. My PD was current for June filing.

    Rumour - The dates have been retrogressed already for July as USCIS already recd enough applications to fullfill the remaining visa number for this fiscal year. Also USCIS officers visited IV and could sense the number of applications that will pile up on July 1st hence they decided to retrogress and release the dates on Month to month basis.

    Does this make sense !!

    You may want to write an english proficiency letter detailing the four aspects that they seek, ie reading, speaking, writing and listening.

    They asked me to submit IELTS test results inspite of submitting TOEFL score (108/120) and english proficiency letter.

    Here is my case, Company A filed Labor GC for me, Labor filed 04/2004, I-140 approved 06/07, I485 filed 07/07.
    Company A got aquired by company B in 11/07, Company B filed 3 year extension on H1B based on approved I-140 approved H1B.

    Now company B filed amendment to approved I 140- My questions-


    Is my I 140 still aproved or it will start all over?
    I am planning to change the company coming October, Can I change the company at this stage. Will it affect my AOS in adverse way.
    What
    I need to take care of if I want to switch the job.

    This thread is getting very interesting with all the logical calculations and predictions, thanks OP.

    One aspect that was missed in the discussions so far is, during Aug-Sep'08 many folks with 2005/06 PD's got their GC, USCIS picked these cases on random and not sure how many with 2005/06 PD's were approved but it a sizeable number, so this reduces the pending numbers for 2005/06 PD cases as well. I am predicting by Sep'10 we should see all of 2006 PD's cleared up.

    Hi,

    Here is the case : I'm working for company A since long and has an H1B valid till Mid 2010.
    Company B has sponsored a GC for me. Its EB3 - India with PD Mid 2003 and I485 was filed on June 11 2007. Waiting for PD to be current.

    EAD was applied on 06/27/08 and was approved yesterday for 2 years.

    In this case,

    1. Will be advisable to start working with sponsoring company B on EAD or continue with company A which is holding my H1 and where I'm right now ? Since there is no direct employment relation between applicant with company B, I think its better to join GC sponsoring company sooner than later. I was on Company B's payroll for 2 years in 2002-03

    2. Will it be considered under AC21 ? Should USCIS be informed on that change ?

    3. What will happen to my H1B status which is good and valid till mid 2010 ?

    5 About dependants, my wife has applied EAD few months back and already started working with her approved EAD. My son is having H4 status.
    Any issue for them if I use EAD and move to company B ?

    4. In case I want to join some other company or start own business in near future, What will be the best step today in order to avoid any problems in GC process or after having GC ?

    Let me know If I may not be that clear in explaining my situation.

    Have heard good things about Maple Intl. We filed on our own without any agencies. It's not terribly complicated, and certainly not the nightmare that getting a US permanent residence is with its 3-step process of LCA, I-140 petition for immigrant worker and I-485 AOS (or CP).

    At times I wonder why they continue with this terribly complicated process in the U.S. - it clearly isn't working, but as long as it keeps the hordes of DoL and USCIS folks employed, I guess it serves its purpose.

    I think you are taking it so personal. I am not opposing this idea. In fact, I suggested to check with your immigration lawyers and share what they say.

    All I'm saying is that, in my personal view, I don't see any discrimination on the existing law you are pointing out. I don't see anyone being discriminated. It just so happen that we belong to 4 countries affected by this quota.

    If we can ask the US government to probably give exception to us, I think that's one idea. But that's absolutely remote.

    My country of origin has got nothing to do with what we are talking here. You are taking so personal because you might have been waiting for your GC for quite sometime. Well, we are just on the same boat.

    This is an open forum my friend. So please take it easy.

    Bud,

    TN is just a modified H1B. You need to have an employer, your wife will be on a TD and worse, you gotta renew it every year across the border.

    TN is not a modified H1B. With TN you do not have a dual intent: you cannot apply for a green card straight through TN status -- you would have to adjust your status to H1, L1, or any other immigrant status and only then apply for a green card.

    TN is given for two years. You must be a Canadian citizen (not just a PR!) to qualify for TN status. Mexican citizens must obtain the actual TN visa, while Canadians don't. There are occupations that do not qualify for TN status.

    Your wife can just as easily file for a TN in her occupation. Yes, you need an employer in the USA to get TN status, but I don't see a big problem with it. I work for a relatively small IT company (about 90 employees), and we hire people from anywhere in the USA and Canada. Our recruitment personnel conducts online and phone interviews, and a job offer can be made before the candidate ever visits our state. I'm sure many companies follow the same practice.

    With TN you get stamped at the border (Canadian, not Mexican :)) -- and welcome (back) to the USA! If you follow the guidelines, it's very simple to get this status. I'm not sure which country gets your taxes, though. Since I'm quite a few years away from my Canadian citizenship, the information I currently have was sufficient to satisfy my curiosity about TN status. ;)

    Another interesting idea about Canada-USA work/immigration popped up today in conversation with my immigration lawyer. If you have a managerial position in a company that has offices in USA and Canada, you can jump on L1 visa. This will let you file in EB-1 category if you want to go for a green card. There are some additional requirements: you need to work as a manager in the company's branch in Canada for at least a year; when you apply for a green card, the company will need to prove that the Canadian office will keep operating after you get your green card and leave Canada. Nevertheless, it's a possibility that is definitely better than EB-3 or EB-2.

    Hi,

    I found that priority date field on my I-140 receipt is empty. Will this create any problem??
    I filed concurrently lasy july and MY PD will be current next month. I applied at NSC but got transferred to TSC.

    Your priority date is the date of your filing of your labor certification. Therefore, lack of the priority date on your I-140 receipt should not matter. Best of luck!

    If you see the numbers for EB2 ROW there are still 7000 visas pending.
    Offcourse many are from 2007 and 2008

    How is it possible?Is it not EB2 ROW and EB1 was always current?
