I'm not sure that your numbers add up. There's no guarantee that anybody would receive a green card before their 90 or 180 day I-94 expires. Leaving the US and reentering to remain in status then runs the risk of putting immigration application in danger. In reality - PERM takes a couple of months to complete with advertising, interviewing, preparing documents and filing. The I-140/485 process takes another 6-8 months assuming that there are no RFEs and your case is processed in the faster service centers. This timescale only works for ROW applicants if they meet the EB-2 standard. This is not an easy standard to meet for many people who have worked at the same employer for a number of years.
On a separate note, CIS is supposed to meet a standard where most green card applications are evaluated within less than a year. They claim to meet this standard by quickly approving applications whose dates are current and then not including backlogged applications in their calculations. One more example of fuzzy math at the CIS...
This is how the law works:
To file I-485; one has to be admissable and in non immigrant status(not subject to J-1 requirements, no major medical issues, no serious criminal issue). If there is a labor and priority date is current then you go straight to 140/485.
many times a company may have already filed a labor for you before you even get into USA.

Last year there were a few people who had posted on immigration.com who had their 485's retruned by uscis. They came on visitor visa and labor approved but filed in eb3. I mailed the following message to Senators, Representatives, President's Office, various News organizations sometime in April this year. No one bought it except for some standard reply from the Senator's Offices. At this time, when they have bigger issues, we would be at the bottom of the pile -
"The Economy is inching towards Recession. The President’s Economic stimulus plan will take at least 6 months to bring in the questionable benefits of the Plan. The Fed is aggressively cutting interest rates to turn around the economy. The questionable benefits of these will take a minimum of 6 months to bear fruit.
Nothing can prevent the economy from going into Recession if the Housing crisis is not fixed, neither the Economic stimulus nor the Feds cutting the interest rates.
Now, how do we fix this Housing Crisis. We need to figure out a way to add home buyers. Now, where are the buyers, you may ask. There is surprisingly an easy answer – Employment based Legal Immigrants. These are immigrants who came into this country legally, pay their taxes and social security and who apply for their Employment based Green Cards, the legal way.
There is a huge backlog of employment based legal immigrants who are waiting to get their Employment based permanent residency (Green card). There are approximately 750,000 applicants in line. This backlog has been caused by the annual quota of employment based green cards whose annual limit (140,000) was set decades ago.
These are the immigrants who have already passed through two stages of immigration processes – the Labor Certification where it has been verified that no American talent has been available for the Job Descriptions these immigrants were hired for and The I-140 where the employer is verified to be a genuine employer with financial ability to pay for the immigrants so that they don’t become a liability for the state. Even Microsoft’s Bill Gates has supported this idea in his recent Congressional testimony on March 12, 2008. But that would require the act of Congress and the Senate and it needs to take its course. We need an immediate solution. Re-capturing the unused visas just needs some administrative fixes and this has been done in the past as recent as 2005.

Yes it will, unless there are more EB1I visas which could spill over to EB2I, in which case EB2I will move ahead of EB3I. But that guy has also said that the spill over may not happen because of the demand for EB1I.
Its just unbelievable that EB2I and EB3I (i.e. the persons who have PD when the numbers were calculated) will have to wait for about 19 years to get their GCs. We HAVE to do something about this.
60K EB2-I and 60K EB3-I pending so far. Does this mean Eb2 and EB3 dates will move together from now on for India?

I have an EB2 I-140 approved; PD Aug 29, 2007. The corresponding LC was filed with "Special Handling" for university teachers.
1. If I change into a non-academic job, then can the PD be retained when I refile?
2. If I go out of US for a few years (say 3-5 years) and then come back with a new job, will I be able to retain this PD when I refile?

We have used Web fax in the past, I had also read in a different thread that it (faxes to senators) is how things work here. there were reports of how other groups had used and sent more web faxes than us etc etc ....

Now, what would really be effective is for our own people that are already naturalized and integrated and assimilated and digested in the US system to stand up for our cause.
Please, do this for us seniors. As citizens and permanent residents, your voice will be effectively heard. Case in point - legislation on re-uniting families. To begin with, family based has nearly 60% more visas than employment based and nearly 80% of the visas available are exempt from per-country limits. And yet, the politicians want to reform family based immigration process because the people at the receiving end are their citizens. There is nothing wrong with it because the wait-time for extended family members are really long too which is a shame. But you see, there are bills that are actively discussed and passed in that category i.e fundamental solutions are being explored.
Why is Mr. Bobby Jindal and likes of him not taking up our cause actively? People use their "humble-background" in campaign times. Why do they fail in holding out a helping hand to people that are stuck in such "humble-background"? Do you see such apathy in other minority communities?

If we are trying to quote facts here then myths also come into play. Remember the ramayana when ravana was ruling srilanka. Who were those in Srilanka at that time ? Were they tamils ? No. If that can be accepted true then natives of srilanka should not be tamils. We dont know that time of ramayana tamils were a clan that even existed. But tamil is a age old language so tamils were one of the earliest clan too.
Only way a co-existence could be established is by the world exerting pressure on lanka to
treat tamils as brothers. If tamils existing there are citizens (granted by lanka), then why the inequality in rights. These armed groups only spring into existence because of suppression or power greed. Earlier times it was suppression, later it became power greed which killed the cause. Peaceful protests are always watched and will be supported by world. With technology in hand, (post LTTE) tamils could show to the world that they have a peaceful fight at hand.

I have been following this thread for last couple of days and I feel I need to make few points. I remember when this amway/qucikstar thing started several of my close friends got entangled and tried to involve me. However, every time I bailed myself out by clearly mentioning to them "Right now, making lot of money is not in my top priorities. I want to focus on my carrier." Fortunately, I was able to fend off the proposals and clearly make my point.
In this thread, several of you are mentioning to ridicule, diminish, embarrass, and even socially out casting an amway/quickstar member. I feel its going a little bit too far. If you dont like to be in the amway/quickstar business stay clear of it, nobody will be able to force you in it. Setting up anti-amway websites, sharing names of the "bugging" amway members, distributing their phone numbers, and destroying their social reputation is harming the person personally, not the amway/quickstar business. We all know by now the amway/quickstar is a scam, majority of its signed members end up losing valuable time and money. How do you feel if some of your mentioned action emotionally push a distressed person off the cliff. Think about it a bit !!!
