This kind of statements are used just to bluff the congress. Bear in mind 140k is the quota and may not be the target. Looks like they did it again (I mean bluff DOS and Congress) and DOS had no choice to move the dates so that overseas visa post can consume the remaining visa.

Try detaining any of their top Hollywood Heroes at an Indian airport for 2 hours and see how USA media and people will react to it.
You people have no respect for your own motherland and always think everything American is good than your own country. Learn to stand up for your motherland. Just because you want your greencard does not mean you forget your roots. Anti-Immigrants (read racists) of this country will still call you slumdogs even if you are a citizen of this country. But your own country people will never forget you and will accept you as their own even if you have lived here for 50 years.

However, this story has nothing to do about standing up for our own country/motherland. Every person who has a common name with terrorist names has had troubles at POE since 9/11. So who cares if he is SRK or anyone for that matter. When Colin Powell was the chief of security under Bush administration he had to go through airport security just like any other common person. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? Every now and then you hear of ministers and celebrities involved in smuggling scandals.
There are good and bad things about every nation. IMHO, security procedures in US are the far better than India and apply the same way to everyone unlike in India. I am doing an employer change - HtoH transfer.
Do I have to wait for the H1 transfer approval or is the receipt good
enough for me to travel abroad? Do I have to get my new H1 stamped
before reentering? I still have the dates on my old h1 (from AMD)
valid on the stamping on my passport - will this suffice? Please
explain.
Also my Advanced Parole is on its way. Will I be able to travel on EAD
and AP, when my H1 transfer is being filed? Can I still hold on to my

The naysayers saying that all assets backed by mortgage by securities are worthless. How can a freaking house become worthless? Yes its market value may have fallen but it is quite possible to increase the market value of houses by increasing demand. And how one can increase demand of houses? Simply by welcoming more skilled and educated foreign workers and making US immigration system more friendly to the immigrants who wants to stay here, buy a house here and raise a family. USA needs fresh blood not protectionist measures that will simply make it a country with huge tracts of land , low population density and constantly outmaneuvered in the international market by other economic superpowers like China.

Thank you all for the insight and advice. I wish the US greencard process wasnt a bureaucratic blackhole. I have been here for 6 years amidst the so-called backlog reduction and the stagnant retrogression with no end in sight. It is really frustrating. My wife being a licensed physician cant work. We just end up coughing up our paychecks to uncle Sam and the lawyers. Unless something is done soon about the legal immigration process, I can see the US losing out to other countries which have a structured system like Canada and Australia.

I donot think its in any way wrong to come meet somebody and say hi and try to talk to but what is wrong is the methodology adopted by these folks which basically irritates people.
I do not think its any way different then any networking event in Bay Area , the only difference is you meet somebody introduce yourselves and about your product and then move on and then just wait for the other person to contact you, however in case of amway first part of meeting is ok but they completely miss out on the second part instead of waiting for the second person to call they just keep calling you and harassing you with calls

Even after I told them I was quitting, they were kept calling me for quite some time. Amway as a corporation has nothing to do with this menace. The disgustingly greedy people involved in this pyramid (or network) marketing are creating such an atmosphere and name. Unfortunately, a big number of people who are involved in this biz are Desis.

I am not happy or sad about the memo. If H1b program is tightened or relaxed I will not be impacted anyway. Infact if more Indians are coming here more beneficial for Indian community.Simply my view is if H1b is regulated to minimise fraud the entire H1b program will get become legitimate and Increasing the cap is possible in future if needed

Guys.. can one of you please suggest a good Canadian PR processing company? I keep getting mails from cr@protechimmigration.com. Is Protech good?

DO NOT go through any of these agencies. they just put additional delays in your PR processing. I got my Canadian PR in 14 months without any professional help.
On an average, they will charge $3000 and cause an additional delay of 3-6 months in your case

Please post good reliable estimate of cost for applying with ALL possible break ups. I know the following only!
Cost of applying = application fee ($795 ??) + Lawyer fee + others (= medical + pictures + ...)
Also, which parts are lost if we have to re-apply!
Application Fee : Main Applicant : $375.00 (Application Fee) + $70.00 (Finger Print) + $50.00 (Fedex) + Medical Exam ($250.00) + Photos ($40.00) + Lawer Fee ($1500.00) and if we have any dependent same thing except Application fee and Lawer fess ($325.00 (Application Fee) + 500$ Lawer Fee)
All Togther : $2285.00 and calling here and there almost $2500.00 Per Person .... any other information please ask us........ thanks

So if there is no spillover from other categories it will take north of 10 years for all the people who applied for I-485 in the July 2007 fiasco to get Green Cards. The only caveat to this would be attrition or legislation.
